Is Vach really free?

Yes. There is no account, no trial, no credit card and no limit on how many recordings you make. The only limit is a few generations per minute from the same address, so that one person cannot occupy the server for everyone else.

Do I need an account?

No, and there is nowhere to make one. Nothing is tied to a person — a recording belongs to whoever holds its link.

Can I use the audio commercially — in a video, an ad, a course?

Yes. What you generate is yours to use, including commercially, and no attribution is required. You are responsible for the text you put in: do not synthesise text you have no right to use, and do not present the result as a recording of a real, named person.

What format is the file?

WAV, 44.1 kHz, mono, 16-bit. That is the format video editors and podcast tools accept without converting. One minute of speech is roughly 5 MB.

How long can the text be?

1000 characters per run — about 150 words, or roughly a minute of speech. For a longer script, split it by paragraph and render the parts one after another; that also lets you redo a single paragraph instead of the whole thing.

Is my text stored? Is it public?

The text and the audio are stored so the same request does not have to be synthesised twice and so your link keeps working. Nothing is published unless you tick “make this audio public” — that tick is off by default.

Which voice should I pick?

For long text, an even voice (M5, F3). For short and lively, F2 or F4. For anything neutral, M1 or F1. All ten speak all 31 languages, and the voices page has samples with measured pitch and speaking rate.

Can it clone my own voice?

No. Vach has ten fixed voices and no way to upload a voice sample. That is deliberate: a site that clones any voice from a clip is a site that will be used to impersonate people.

Why does the same text sound slightly different each time?

It does not, as long as the settings are identical — the same text with the same voice, speed and steps returns the same file, because the result is cached by those exact parameters. Change any one of them and the model synthesises anew.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in the browser, with no app to install. You can also add the site to your home screen and it opens like an app.

Who is behind Vach and how do I get in touch?

Vach is made and run by a small independent developer, not a company. Questions, problems and takedown requests go to the address on the contact page and are answered by a person.
